Is Creed III Kid Friendly? Parents Guide (2024)

Wondering if Creed III is ok for kids? The newest installment of the Creed franchise packs a punch. Younger fans of Rocky and Creed may want to watch Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors battle it out on the big screen. Here’s what parents need to know in this Creed 3 Parents Guide.

Is Creed III Kid Friendly?

After dominating the boxing world, Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) has moved on from boxing and been thriving in both his career and family life. When a childhood friend, Damian (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, he wants a shot in the ring. In fact, he used to be a boxing prodigy.

Once brothers, now enemies, the face-off between former friends is more than just a fight. To settle the score, Adonis must put his future on the line to battle Dame, a fighter who seemingly has nothing to lose.

For those who haven’t seen any of the Creed movies, Adonis is the son of Apollo Creed, who died at the hands of Drago in the Rocky movies. In the other Creed movies Adonis felt like he had to prove himself in the boxing world for his father.

Age Rating: Why is Creed 3 Rated PG-13?

Violence: Is Creed III Too Scary for Kids?

With boxing movies, there is a lot of fighting, blood, punches, and violence. Creed III is no exception. The closeup boxing shots of punches thrown, bloodied faces, and spit can get intense. Characters are on the ground and unable to get up in the ring. Some scenes in Creed 3 may be too intense for young kids.

In other scenes, characters are attacked and threatened with guns. A teen is shown beating up others. A flashback of emotional abuse is shown.

Is Creed 3 Ok for Kids? Mature Content

There is no nudity in Creed III, but there is sex implied. Characters are shown kissing. A joke is made about a character getting another naked.

Characters are shown drinking alcohol.

Parents Guide: Is Creed 3 Appropriate for Kids Under 10?

In Creed III you can expect a lot of violence and fighting; although it’s more than a boxing movie. If you’ve seen the other Creed movies, then you have an idea of what to expect in the ring. Due to close up shots of boxing and mature themes, I’d say Creed 3 is kid friendly for kids ages 12 and older.

Some kids who are older may not like the boxing scenes and some kids who are younger may be able to handle it if they are fans of the sport. And if they can handle it, they’re in for a treat, because the anime-inspired fights are very cool.

Aside from the violence, there are emotional scenes that could cause distress for young kids. Both Majors and Jordan give vulnerable performances. Just as in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Majors delivers the most with his more subtle moments. His hurt is understandable.

The chemistry between the two friends in their scenes is fantastic as Adonis must reconcile with his past and Dame reminds him of it. Jordan has a solid start in his directorial debut proving that he doesn’t need Sylvester Stallone or Rocky to keep fans happy. However, I still wouldn’t mind Stallone in future Creed films.

While the two main players are center ring, some of the stories of the supporting characters seem to be unfinished, namely Adonis’s daughter. Also, more Tessa Thompson, please. I would have liked to have seen some more time given to them.

While Creed III may not be a total knockout, the film lands enough punches to entertain audiences. Jordan and Majors are in top form.
