If you’re not sure about your phone qualifying for a reset, we have some reasons mentioned below to help you make a better decision:

What does resetting your phone really do?

Resetting your phone erases data from your phone. Any settings you might have changed will go back to their default state. Reset removes any apps you’ve installed, passwords, accounts, and other personal data. There are multiple reasons why one would reset their phone.

1. Folks who sell or trade their old phones always go for a reset. This way, they can get rid of any crucial data like payment details on their phone.

2. Unknowingly you might have downloaded corrupted applications or files. This causes your phone to work slowly. A reset will clear out unwanted stuff and let your phone function properly.

3. Soft reset means simply restarting your phone. It refreshes your phone without removing any data. Just press the power button to proceed with a restart.

Reset the phone with the Android Device Manager

Android device manager locates your device remotely. In case your phone is stolen or lost, it’ll wipe all the data from it. If your phone is locked, the Device manager will erase your phone’s memory and unlock it for you. You just need to sign in with the same Google account as your Android phone and follow the below steps.

1. Go to android.com/find.

2. Login with a Google account that is synced on your Android phone.

3. Tap on your device name.

4. Click on the Erase Device option.

5. Click this option again and sign in with your Google Account.

6. You’ll see a menu with the Erase All Data option

7. Click on Erase.

8. Your erasing and resetting process will start.

If your phone ever got stolen or lost, and you don’t want your information in the wrong hands, you can remove all the data on your phone with a few simple clicks.

Things to keep in mind before resetting

1. Make sure to have your phone backed up on your Google account before doing a reset. A reset can remove important data from your phone. Not all of us have the expertise or tools to perform a backup on a locked phone. That’s why as a safety measure, you should go for daily automatic backup when your phone is unlocked.

2. We keep important documents, study notes, photos, and movies on our phones. It’s better to save these files on an external SD card or cloud storage like Google Drive.

3. Log out from all your Google accounts before a reset.

We hope you have an answer in place after this!
