Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Graham Cracker Rim:
    • Start by crushing the graham cracker into fine crumbs. You can do this by placing the graham cracker in a ziplock bag and using a rolling pin to crush it.
    • Pour the graham cracker crumbs onto a small plate.
    • Wet the rim of your coffee mug with a little water (or chocolate syrup), then dip it into the graham cracker crumbs to coat the rim. This will give your latte a delightful s’mores touch.
  2. Prepare the Coffee:
    • Brew a strong cup of coffee using your preferred method. Espresso can also be used as a base for a more intense flavor.
  3. Make the S’mores Base:
    • In a small saucepan, combine the milk and chocolate syrup.
    • Heat the mixture over low-medium heat, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  4. Prepare the Latte:
    • Pour the brewed coffee into your graham cracker-rimmed mug.
    • Add the vanilla extract to the coffee and stir.
  5. Add the S’mores Flavors:
    • Pour the hot chocolate milk mixture into the coffee and stir well to combine.
    • Drop 2 tablespoons of marshmallow fluff (opens in new window) into the latte. You can use a spoon to help it melt into the coffee.
  6. Garnish:
    • Sprinkle the crushed chocolate, chocolate chips, or chocolate shavings on top of your latte for an extra chocolatey kick.
  7. Final Touch:
    • If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream on top of your s’mores latte. This adds a creamy element similar to the marshmallow’s creaminess.
  8. Enjoy:
    • Serve your S’mores Latte while it’s still hot and enjoy the delicious combination of coffee, chocolate, and marshmallow goodness.

What’s the difference between the recipe for S’mores Latte and S’mores Coffee?

The key difference between a S’mores Latte and a S’mores Coffee lies in the milk or milk-based components used in each recipe. Here’s a breakdown of the differences:

S’mores Latte:

  1. Milk Base: A S’mores Latte is made with espresso (or strong coffee) as the base, just like regular coffee. However, it includes a significant amount of steamed milk, usually with a layer of milk foam on top.
  2. Foam: It often includes a layer of frothy milk foam on top, which gives the latte a creamy and luxurious texture.
  3. Flavor Profile: The emphasis in a S’mores Latte is on the combination of coffee, steamed milk, and the S’mores flavors. The milk adds creaminess and a different flavor dimension compared to black coffee.
  4. Optional Sweeteners: A S’mores Latte may include additional sweeteners, such as sugar or syrups, to enhance the sweetness and flavor.

S’mores Coffee:

  1. No Milk Base: S’mores Coffee is typically made with strong brewed coffee but doesn’t include a significant amount of steamed milk. It’s more similar to traditional black coffee in terms of its base.
  2. Marshmallow and Graham Cracker Topping: S’mores Coffee emphasizes the s’mores flavors with the addition of marshmallow fluff or creme, graham cracker crumbs, and other s’mores-related toppings directly on top of the coffee.
  3. Texture: S’mores Coffee doesn’t have the creamy texture that a latte offers since it lacks the steamed milk component.
  4. No Milk Foam: Unlike a latte, there’s no milk foam on top of S’mores Coffee.

A S’mores Latte is a coffee-based beverage that includes espresso or strong coffee, steamed milk, and often a milk foam layer, while a S’mores Coffee is made with strong brewed coffee and emphasizes s’mores flavors with toppings like marshmallow and graham cracker without a significant milk component. Both are delicious in their own way, and your choice between them depends on whether you prefer a creamy and espresso-based drink or a black coffee with s’mores-inspired toppings.
