“I would be dumb not to use it.”

If you're a hair aficionado—or desperately trying to fix a botched bleach job—then the best Olaplex products might need no introduction. The hair-care brand is beloved by celebrities, top colorists and stylists, and reviewers alike, and has made a name for itself as a must-have for color-treated hair.

But despite the acclaim, there still seems to be a little confusion around what the products actually do. We'll clear things up: Unlike other hair treatments that add moisture and shine to the outer layers of damaged hair (pretty straightforward stuff), Olaplex works on the molecular level to repair the disulfide bonds that give hair its strength and break through heat-styling, color, and chemical treatments—and was the first brand to make this bond-building technology available in an at-home treatment. (The secret? A little active ingredient called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate.)

By restoring these broken bonds, it offers lasting hair repair, which is how Olaplex came to be recommended by almost every hairstylist out there. This technology is particularly beneficial for anyone with bleached or color-treated hair, but it can also help reverse damage done from brushing, chemical processes, intense hairstyling, and environment aggressors.

While the products aren't as expensive as, say, a Dyson dryer, they're still more than your usual drugstore picks. That leads us to the obvious question: Are Olaplex products really worth the money? The short answer would be yes, they are–especially now that they're all on sale for Amazon Prime Day. For more in-depth reviews, we asked Glamour editors with different hair types to put the line to the test. Scroll on for the best Olaplex products you'll want to add to cart for your best hair yet.

      Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector

As a beauty-brand cynic, I find Olaplex very trustworthy—maybe because my hair salons tend to use it or because the brand doesn’t seem to feel the need to advertise the way other companies do. I have fine curly hair that’s been bleached and is regularly exposed to heat, so anything I can get that protects and sustains it is really valuable to me! I’ve been using the Olaplex Hair Perfector twice a weekfor about six months, and I love it. Like, if there’s any chance that this little science-y bottle is fortifying my hair, I gotta have it. I do think it helps with strengthening the hair, and I really appreciate that it doesn’t leave a greasy or heavy feel on my hair. I would be dumb to not use it. —Jenny Singer, contributor

Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo

Olaplex’s No. 4 has been a mainstay in my routine for the last two years. I know most people swear by this best seller for color-treated hair—and while I do the occasional balayage in the summer, it’s really the heat styling that does most of the damage. Having No. 4 on deck has totally transformed my hair since I started using it. My split ends look way less split, and my hair has stopped falling out in big chunks when I shower. Everything just looks and feels healthier, which is nothing short of a miracle for my insanely dry and frizzy hair.—Talia Abbas, senior commerce editor

Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner

Conditioner is a nonnegotiable step in my hair-care routine, so much so that I don’t feel like I’ve washed my hair properly if I don’t use conditioner. Which is why I love the No. 5 conditioner. It’s part of Olaplex’s 3-4-5 system, three products used together that actually deliver results. After shampooing with No. 4, I apply the conditioner from my scalp all the way down to the tips and leave it on for three minutes—the max patience I have for letting product sit in my hair, TBH—before rinsing. Not only does it make everything visibly softer, but my hair looks less frizzy and dry when I leave it to air-dry. —T.A

Olaplex No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask

I am generally a hair-mask skeptic, but this one really delivers. I like that it's actually repairing my hair, instead of just adding oils to make it feel softer and shinier—which it does as well, by the way. I also love the lightweight texture, which is perfect for my bleach-damaged yet fine hair. The bottle says to leave it on for a full 10 minutes, but I usually do five since I'm impatient, and it totally does the job. I've been using it weekly instead of conditioner to prep for taking my hair the lightest it's ever been. —Bella Cacciatore, contributor

Olaplex No. 6 Bond Smoother Reparative Styling Creme

Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother worked very well on my very fine, frizzy hair. A little goes a long way, which I love with a luxury product—this little bottle will last. I smooth a little bit onto damp hair and then blow-dry it, and it gives me much more of a professional blowout look than I can achieve without it. —J.S.

      Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil

I’ve tried many hair oils in the past, but none has left me instantly impressed as Olaplex No.7. It’s simply divine, lightweight with a subtle, sweet scent—and my thick, dry, and frizzy hair soaks up it no time. I apply a few drops to the ends and then rake it through, and it gives my hair an immediate shine. The oil also doubles as a heat protectant, so on days when I’m blow-drying, I’ll apply a bit before and after styling for a picture-perfect, bouncy blowout. —T.A.

Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment

Full disclosure, I didn't notice a difference when I used this product solo. But when I used it as a primer for the No. 3 treatment—as recommended by the brand—it definitely kicked the results up a notch. My hair felt softer, split ends seem to disappear, and my hair just looked overall more expensive. —B.C.

Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum

Even though I don't color or heat-style my hair, damage from sun and pollution has led to everything from the average frizz to a halo of flyaways, courtesy of what seems to be breakage around my hairline (very cool!). This nourishing serum has worked wonders for my dry hair—not only do my waves seem more defined, but it also delivers hydration for soft, shiny, and all-around healthy hair. —Deanna Pai, contributing commerce editor

Olaplex No. 4P Blonde Enhancer Toning Shampoo

When I choose a purple shampoo, I do that mainly to fight the “yellowish”on my gray hair. I would say that there are many brands that do the job, and I choose those whichleave the hair the least dry. I tried the Olaplex blonde-enhancing shampoo recently, and it is good against the yellow shades. For the time being, purple shampoos are great toavoid theyellow, and should be used every three or four washes. The best thing is to try which one works better for each hair, and never stop trying! Olaplex No. 4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo

I love anything that promises to deep-clean my scalp, which can get flaky and uncomfortable, but most clarifying hair products tend to make my dry hair that much worse. This one, however, washes away buildup from minerals, heavy metals, and hair products without leaving my scalp and hair totally stripped of moisture. —D.P.
